My trip to Cambridge University, 2nd in the list of top universities in the UK will be among the last trips before I head back home sweet home, apart from this coming 21st...Scotland~ Though among the last, it is actually one of the most significant...we had a great time exploring the University grounds, which is indeed spectacular, with beautiful buildings, lakes, and such a friendly atmosphere..I especially loved eating the cherries and grapes we bought at a market nearby..They certainly sell fresh fruits here!
We also went 'punting', kinda like being on a 'sampan' with more than 12 passengers inside!!..rowing softly, laughing our hearts out at the jokes made by our punting guys, eating away the snacks we brought along, and enjoying the warmth of the sunshine..nothing beats that~ it was sad when the punting came to an end, really..huhu..Sam, the punting guy, really had a great sense of humor..he's not a student in Cambridge though, just working part time to make our day happier..he kept telling us Michael Jackson went to Cambridge too..just to make his stories more interesting..hehe..I'm looking forward to more University trips; Oxford, Imperial College, London School of Economics (LSE) and many more..I've been to Nottingham Uni, Bristol Uni, and Leeds...all among the top in the list..it's really a great pleasure seeing the magnificent buildings, tall towers and chapels...and kinda motivating too...
but still, Christchurch tetap University paling comellll....hehe~
btw, we met Jeremy Harmer, writer of my Methodology book yesterday..he waited for us in the Powell Building and as we approached him, he managed to notice his book my friend was holding 'I recognise that book'....he says..His talk was very interesting and I could tell from the way he elicited answers from us, that he's a genuine educator..he's really enthusiastic about getting the correct answers from us that sometimes it looks like he's angry! but of course that is not the case..i would say I admire Jeremy Harmer..hehe....(note that he's wayy older, ok..so it's not that sort of admiration..just a typical fan) Some of the things he said that may help in my future career: In becoming a teacher, an educator, whatever you may call it..
1. You will never be able to please all your students..(jolly glad I am to hear that..)
2. Every teacher and student has different personalities
3. There is always a way to adapt and make something work
4. Your way of teaching is entirely yours based on what you BELIEF (Yes, that's it! Faith in what you do, and you'll make it through..)
But sadly enough, I couldn't find my Jeremy Harmer book when I searched for it yesterday..it simply went missing..I don't remember bringing it to the exam hall in sports centre..so where on earth could it be? Tried 'selawat' a few times before searching but it was still without success...
and guess what...
it wasn't until this morning when I saw my hot water bottle case that I found it warm and snug under the fluffy casing...It was as if it tried to hide, not wanting me to get Harmer's autograph..arrgghh...I'll put you to detention, ELTM book! I won't read you until the next academic year!
Take that, haha~
